Course Outline
Objectives:

The 20-week course includes the following subjects:

 

  • Life Purpose: Get to know one another, group rules, goals, corse content
  • Journaling: Different kind of journaling aspects, journaling ideas, benefits of journaling
  • Feelings: Being in touch with own feelings and role of feelings in behaviour
  • Boundaries: protect self, protect others, healthy and unhealthy boundaries
  • Loss: Identify different kinds of loss, losses in prison, mourning and coping strategies
  • Anger Management: understanding origin of anger, inward and outward anger, appropriate response v harmful expression
  • Growing up stages: Erickson’s developmental stages as guideline in understanding their upbringing
  • Guilt and Shame: Taking personal responsibility for behaviour, distinguishing between healthy and unhealthy guilt, management strategies
  • Forgiveness: Decision- not a feeling, pattern of behaviour, Forgive others and self, Ask for forgiveness
  • Who am I:  MBTI Personal profile test indicate values, beliefs, decisions and actions will be profoundly influenced by all four of the stronger dimensions in their typology. While a person cannot be changed to its opposite, each person can learn to strengthen the weaker dimensions to some extent and to develop personal life strategies to overcome problems that result from the weakness
  • Parenting: Parenting from prison, relationship and communication to children
  • Communication: Different kind of communications, value in communication
  • Conflict Resolution: Listening skills, De-escalating tension, responsible confrontation, personal understanding of own response
  • Emotional Intelligence: understanding relationship in social context
  • Goal setting: planned life gives purpose, control, passion, empowerment
  • Financial Management: Learning to spend for the correct reasons
  • Entrepreneurship: Dream it and you can do it – starting your own business
  • Job application: Do what you love and LOVE what you do!

The course is designed in such a way that it becomes more intimate very slowly and half way through the course – on the week of guilt and shame, the course reaches the most difficult and vulnerable areas of our lives. From then, just as many weeks are spent coming out the other side, building confidence, skills, having fun, and refocusing on the future on restoration, on personal power, spiritual growth and celebration.
